Storyteller, broadcaster, writer, poet
For the past 30 years, with the experience of teaching and BBC production behind him, master storyteller David Campbell, has gained international acclaim taking his repertoire of stories and mentoring craft worldwide. He is popular both as a charistmatic performer and intuitive teacher.
Convictions
“Inside everyone is a child waiting to hear a story and to tell one.”
“Stories speak to the whole person, eye to eye, mind to mind, heart to heart.” (Scottish traveller saying)
“By their stories shall you know them.”
Repertoire
David’s basic repertoire is the pantheon of Celtic and traditional tales of Scotland and Ireland from the ancient heroic tales to fairy, fun and contemporary stories learned from Irish and Scottish tellers of today. Otherwise generous world wide brother and sister storytellers have given tales that spoke to his heart. He like to season telling for old and young with riddles and songs and tunes from his harmonica and keep a good ear open for the elves of mischief. Tales are for five-year-olds to those near to journey’s end in the conviction that inside everyone is a child waiting to hear and wishing to tell a story. The poetry of language in storytelling is for him a golden seam.
Workshops
David prefers to describe his workshops as fun-shops. He has a wide experience and is a popular leader of workshops for participants with English as a second language, teachers, students and aspiring storytellers. He has conducted workshops for beginners and masterclasses for experienced storytellers.
